Typical Friday

With a toddler & preschooler at home, my house is always a disaster!  They pull out toys & books faster than we can put them away.  Thankfully, my housekeeper came today!  Since the kids are taking naps right now, my house might actually be clean for the next hour or two.

Since my house will be probably have toys strewn all over it by the time Brian arrives home, I decided to take a quick picture to show that from approximately 2:00 - 2:02 pm, the house was actually clean (it won’t last long)!

Look, quick–no toys!

We try to stay out of Emelda’s way when she is cleaning our home.  Today we went to Mae-Mae’s (Grandma’s) house then met with Brian for lunch in Odessa.  By the time we got home, both kids were asking for their night time stories.

Sam went right to sleep - he did not even take the time to lay down straight.  OUCH!

Of course Hannah has her own unique sleeping habits.  Hannah likes to gather up all of her things for naptime & night.  Her “friends” fill her entire bed–good thing there are rails on the sides to keep everything from falling off.

“E” family portraits

This is my third time to work with the “E” family.  I worked with Cooper in February for his one-year-old portraits and Abbey came to me for her maternity portraits in the spring.  Abbey called me a couple of months ago to book this session for Cash’s first baby portraits as well as some family portraits.

I enjoyed the opportunity of working with you guys again - thank you!

Family night out

Tonight we had a portrait session for our church directory.  The pictures were taken by a national picture-chain that frequently does these types of church directory pictures.  The pictures turned out as we expected.  Hannah has a very bored/solemn/angry look on her face and Sam is almost rolling his eyes in the picture while Brian & I look awkward . . . and that was the BEST of the seven pictures they gave us to choose from!

We did have fun after the portrait session though.  We went out to eat & the kids got to hear a mariachi band for the first time.  Hannah & Sam could hardly keep their eyes off of the musicians.

Baby Andrew’s lifestyle portraits

When Andrew’s mom contacted me a couple of weeks ago wanting to schedule a photo session for her son’s 3-month portraits, she asked if babies should only be photographed indoors with a backdrop or if it was okay for us to take the pictures outdoors. I love the fact that Andrew’s mom was able to think outside the box. As moms, we are bombarded with fliers from the photo-chains showing babies on backdrops. It is so easy to fall into the trap of thinking that posed studio-type shots are the only way to take baby portraits. I feel like custom children’s portraits are much more natural outdoors. Baby Andrew agreed with us–he was incredibly relaxed throughout the session and impressed us with his incredible smiles and personality.
