DIY haircolor (oopsie)

When it comes to salon procedures, I’m a D-I-Y kind of girl.  I do not like to get manicures/pedicures (I did my own nails for my wedding), and I have not had my hair professionally colored in over 10 years.

I don’t have much grey (yet) but the strands that I do have all surround my face & really stand out against my naturally dark hair color.  So for the last 10 years or so, I have used a semi-permanent hair color that matches my natural color almost exactly.

This morning I applied my monthly coloring touch-up.  As I was blowdrying my hair, I started to freak out.  Why did the hair color “take” so much more strongly this time?!?   This was NOT the subtle grey-blending effect that I usually achieve.  I dug through the trash & realized the mistake.  D’oh!  I used a PERMANENT rather than semi-permanent developer.  Yikes!!!  Lesson learned:  do not purchase hair coloring products when rush-shopping with two cranky pre-schoolers!

New proofing gallery & online shopping cart!

Quite a few of you have been asking why my page of proofing galleries has not been updated in over a month.  What’s going on?  Well, In December I installed a new online proofing gallery & shopping cart and everyone LOVES the new system!  Here are just a few of the things it can do:

1.  You can see your proofs in color, black & white, sepia, and other color tones.

2.  You can use a magnifying glass to zoom in & see better detail.

3.  You can play with crops to see how an image would look in a different size or cropped in tighter.

4.  You can create a file of favorites and place your order online.

Want to see it in action?  Here is the link!

Catching up

It has been over a week since my last blog post - yikes!

Right now I am working on a mother/daughter session, a model shoot, a family session, a newborn, and a 9-month old baby.

In the meantime, here are a few pictures that I have not shared yet . . .

I saw this while I was driving around the other day and I had to pull over and snap a picture.

Our newest family member

Max is a three-year-old old blonde terrier mix with a great personality.

I met Max a few weeks ago at Midland’s Animal Control and immediately fell in love with him but was told that he was scheduled to be put down that afternoon. I knew that he was the perfect dog for our young family. Max is a calm dog–past the hyper (and chewy) puppy stage. He is gentle, wonderful with our children, and has excellent manners.

Upon adopting Max, we took him to the vet where he checked out perfectly healthy. We bought a supply of Heartguard, Frontline Plus, and scheduled his neuter appointment before heading home to cuddle with our newest family member.

Max joins our basset hound, Jezebelle, as a much-loved furry family member. Max and Jezebelle are now inseparable friends.

If you are considering adopting a pet, please check out the SPCA and animal control–there are some amazing pets available for adoption. Over 10 million pets are euthanized every year in animal shelters nationwide. Many of those pets are young kittens, puppies, or purebred dogs.

Simple outdoor wedding

On Saturday, Carroll and Keith married in a simple, sweet outdoor wedding at a friend’s house in Midland. Family and friends celebrated with the couple as they exchanged vows. Congratulations Carroll and Keith–you make a beautiful couple!
