Photojournalism

What an interesting week.

Yesterday Kathleen Thurber from the Midland Reporter-Telegram stopped by to ask me a few questions about my background and my photography business.  Her story should be featured in the online edition of the MRT next week–I will provide the link when it is available.

Today the co-publisher of a magazine contacted me.  She enjoys my work and knows that I hold a B.A. in journalism (news-editiorial) from Baylor University and an M.Ed from Concordia University.  I was asked to submit a photo essay featuring West Texas.  It will be fun to put my degree to use!

Which are your children?

Since I have so many photographs of children on my website, people often ask “which ones are your kids?” I really need to make an effort to share more pictures of my own family here on my little ‘ol blog. (And maybe one of these days I will even get around to posting my own profile pic/mugshot on here).

Hannah is three years old and is crazy about Elmo. She went to Nemo on Ice, reads her Nemo books daily, loves to watch the DVD, and has several stuffed animals, coloring books, shirts, etc. that feature the little orange guy. These pictures were taken last night after bath time when we were getting tucked in for bed.

Sam is 18 months. He enjoys exploring, getting into cabinets, laughing at his big sister’s antics and eating. These snapshots were taken this morning at breakfast time.

Newborn baby & a proud big brother

One of the perks of my job is having the opportunity to work with newborn babies during their first weeks of life. I absolutely love crinkly newborn skin! On Thursday I worked with a wonderful Midland family to capture some photographs of their baby girl and her proud big brother.

Bekah & Tad: Midland, TX

Last week I met with Bekah and Tad for their engagement session. We had fun running around downtown Midland for the session. Bekah is a cosmetology student at Midland College and Tad works in the oilfield. Their wedding will be held at Claydesta on August 9, 2008.
