When Andrew’s mom contacted me a couple of weeks ago wanting to schedule a photo session for her son’s 3-month portraits, she asked if babies should only be photographed indoors with a backdrop or if it was okay for us to take the pictures outdoors. I love the fact that Andrew’s mom was able to think outside the box. As moms, we are bombarded with fliers from the photo-chains showing babies on backdrops. It is so easy to fall into the trap of thinking that posed studio-type shots are the only way to take baby portraits. I feel like custom children’s portraits are much more natural outdoors. Baby Andrew agreed with us–he was incredibly relaxed throughout the session and impressed us with his incredible smiles and personality.

Children and family
Last Thursday I met with the Hopper/Hardy family for a children & family session. This extended family came together for a photography session so that they could get some updated pictures of their own children as well as a picture with all of the cousins together. These children were cracking me up the whole time–they are a lively group who are fun to interact with!
I am also looking forward to working with Cory Hardy (6th picture down) for a commercial photography shoot in the near future. He owns a company that inspects commercial vehicles and they have requested some professional images for their website and advertising.
Bekah & Tad: Midland, TX
Wedding: Lubbock, TX
On Saturday I drove north to shoot Kendra and Zack’s wedding. Kendra and Zack are a super-sweet couple from Andrews, Texas. Their wedding & reception was at Cagle Steaks just outside of Lubbock.
The day started early with a hair appointment. We then grabbed a quick lunch at the mall (Kendra got some funny looks since she was already decked out in her veil) before heading to the makeup appointment.
Then I ran back to the site of the wedding to take some of the details shots before the bride and groom arrived.
We then took the family photographs and pictures of the bridal party and groomsmen.
At 6 pm the actual wedding ceremony began, followed by the reception.
The bride and groom then said their goodbyes and drove off for their honeymoon in the Dominican Republic. (I’m just a wee bit jealous!)
Kendra and Zack, I enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate your wedding with you. Enjoy your honeymoon!
Your proofs will be in the gallery soon but since you have hundreds of photographs it will take a few more days.
